• The Liberal Club
• Martin Brooks' Caravanette. If he doesn't move it soon he will have to pay Council Tax on it !
• St Peter's Church. esp' the view of it from the Park, before Midas try to spoil it
• Teignhaven House on the Teignhaven site
• Shaldon's lovely random Georgian architecture.
• ness hotel

• Ferry Shelter

Demolish It Now Building

• The sheds on Point Beach - although the winter storms will probably do the job for us.
• The Anchorage
• Midas' H.Q.
• Shadey Estate Agents
• The rat infested Teignhaven House next to Force-8.
• South West Water's pumping station building, and build something more in keeping with Shaldon.
• Reg Astbury's house, and the new houses before they get built.
• Brigintine
• Ferrymans Reach old peoples flats. (They block the view as well as provide the village with old dears)

The Best Things

• Watching the ships come and go. Being glad to be in Shaldon rather than Teignmouth - but enjoying the lights from Teignmouth at night. Wednesday markets when you can pick up a bargain.
• Fulfords have opened an Estate Agency where Tim B. was going to open his Balti House. At last some competition for Bradleys !!
• 2002 and it is still the London Inn quiz teams - the B team won the league again whilst a totally new A team finished a very creditable fourth.
• Shaldon Bowls Club Men's "A" team who had a wonderful 2001. The Teignmouth Pilot who keeps knocking over (with a very big boat) the post that holds the green Point Beach guidance light.
• The best thing about Shaldon is it's ex captain of the football team, Bondy who now resides in Australia and would like to say Hi to anyone who knows him.
• The new London Inn "A" quiz team who will make a challenge for the league title next year.
• Shaldon Villa joining a Sunday morning football league. It proves there are sporting opportunities for the fat, the unfit and the old !!
• Fulfords Estate Agents are opening in Shaldon in opposition to Bradleys who if they operated a "no sale = no fee" contract would probably be skint by now.
• One of the best things about the victory over Midas is that everyone in Shaldon knows which of our Councillors gave Midas a "nod" when they commenced their campaign to desecrate our village. A lot of explaining to do and no BMW at the end of it all.
• The Shaldon Action Group for rallying the village, collecting the much needed cash and defeating Midas.
• Congratulations Shaldon in winning another victory over Midas - hopefully they will now come back to the Parish Council and Action group with an acceptable proposal.
• The Botanical Gardens, The Ness Beach, the zoo,
• The London Inn quiz teams. The B team won the league. The A team performances make better viewing than Weakest Link.
• Jack the veg has closed down - he has joined the opposition - Sainsburys !! Alan the Butcher is now selling fruit & veg. Steve Angel has opened a Hardware store where the veg used to be. Tim Biddlestone is threatening to open a Balti next to The Standard - it would be well supported - me thinks.
• Even The Herald Express gave Shaldon Front Page status regarding the MIDAS Victory! Have MIDAS finally got the message?
• 15 Jan 2001. The Best Things... are not things at all but are the real, genuine people in Shaldon (and locally), who have today enabled a victorious result - against Midas Homes and their 'monstrous' plans for TEIGNHAVEN. How refreshing to have Teignbridge Planning Committee listening to the people! Thanks
• Tony Garside and his campaign to make the Con. club "honest" and a place for all the Villagers to enjoy.
• The New Internet Company which is coming to Shaldon very soon. Watch this space for more details on it's fantastic services!
• The River Teign Ferry.
• Ashton's Garage, Bridge Road, Shaldon - Newly taken over by Gerry. You'll always get a freindly and honest oppinion about your motoring problems, even if 'it's only fit for the scrap yard in the sky!' Also sells red diesel (off road or boat use only!!!) A garage that won't cost you the earth!

• The Botanical Gardens
• One of the more interesting attractions in Shaldon Is the Shaldon Wildlife Trust. This is a breeding centre for rare and endangered species. The trust is a registered charity and cares for over 30 different species of animals. The trusts specialize in small mammals , mostly South american monkeys , rodents and tropical squirrels. They also run a community education program which enables members of the local community to get close too and learn about unusual and exotic creatures. It is an ideal visit for families with smaller children as the grounds are set in around one and a half acres of enclosed woodland. For more information contact the trust on 01626 872234. Opening times : Easter to 30th September 10.00 am to 6.00 pm 1 october to easter 10.00 am to 4.00 pm
• The people that live there practically all know one another, so if and when you visit you get a real sense of belonging. Also, it's the safest place in the world! People leave items they own outside for as long as they need to or like to, and no one ever steals from anyone else.
• Drinking, pubs.

The Worst Things

• The Brigantine. What a beautiful location to be wasted on this place. Limited sailing due to strong tidal current.
• Parking in Shaldon is a nightmare - we need a full time Traffic Warden who could be self funding.
• It is 2001 and the Conservative Club is still a shambles. Give the bar to Mick Wiggins then sack the intransigents on the Committee and breathe life into the Club.
• The car parking situation - what are double yellow lines for ?? The Ferryboat Inn.
• Alan Mitchell is retiring as our local Butcher - OK he was expensive but the stuff he sold was top class. Hope the new guy is as good.

• Petty illiterate people who clearly need to get a life rather than rain abuse on the innocent - let's hope you never get old!
• The Wait is now on to see what crap Midas will come up with next!
• MIDAS Homes !!!
• Strolling about shaldon when you are on holiday when there is nothing to do so you have to go to coast view holiday park to pass the time
• The Conservative Club Committee.
• Jack, who sells his best veg to Hotels; and sells the locals the crap stuff
• The Astbury puppets on the Parish Council - Cardin, Watts, and Lord
• Asley Manhire's decision to turn down the Lottery Grant
• The arrogant clique of snobs wanting to take over Shaldon.
• Teignbridge planners decision to recommend the Midas plans for approval. Do they know what they are doing???
• The Shaldon and Ringmore Hall needs loads of money spent on it, otherwise it will be sold off and lost forever.
• Dog owners who let their dogs foul the beaches and streets of Shaldon without picking it up, especially along the Riverside. People who drive far too fast through the narrow streets of Shaldon.
• The Astbury's, James Cardin, Ivor Watts, Joan Lord for their crap decisions.
• The people and Brigintine
• Too much drinking. Old people.

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
