Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars

  • winter gardens carnival wont let under age people in
  • Time (formerly henry's) in scunthorpe...it's worth the admission just too see all these hip dance/trance lover's clapping there hands in time to the darkness....rock and roll rules supreme!!!
  • the assembley rooms in barton down queen street! a nice little dive!!!! or the carnival which is full of redneck dipshits that ar'nt very freindly! theres the baths hall in scunny thats it! aqua fortiss are the worst band in history!!!
  • just youth club at maltby lane, which is like a local brothal for boyracers.
  • Is the Liberal club still trotting out last Summers tunes? There was a tasty riot out in front of it twenty odd years ago and I got a bobbys helmet out of it. Its a long story but it got given back.
  • No clubs, but the Red Lion usually has a disco and Kookies has live bands most Fridays/Saturdays

Live Music Venues

  • winter gardens
  • the carnival or notted note cafe, have a few gigs with the local teen bands. (there actrually quite good) see flyers around baysgarth school or at pubs for times and days.
  • The Carnival is also home to Black #5 who are currently Barton's only band to have a record deal. Their album Last Few Hours is also available at Record Village!
  • The Carnival Inn. Most weeks there is a band on in the function room, and downstairs in the lounge you'll find open mic night, a free for all for great (and not so) musicians. The carnival has seen 80's pop bloke Paul Young Lay his hat there and Motorhead tribute Motorheadache give you a motorheadache.
  • the carnival has all the best bands playing all through the year
  • the carnival inn, tofts road barton, the only decent place really, gets some good bands there, brassik lynt, although technically sound at what they do should lose the singer, his arrogance and ego is astounding, he cant sing either
  • Assemby Rooms and The Carnival both have a function room with bar area, Assembly rooms slightly more popular due to better acoustics and seperate "backstage" area downstairs.
  • there's only one decent live music venue in barton and thats the carnival inn up toff's road, usely has someone playing, and caters for all tastes!
  • Red Lion have a good band most weekends, but it's usually brimming.
  • Assembly Rooms in Queen Street where Alvin Stardust once appeared or was it at the Drill Hall on Butts Road? All in the 1960's and a distant memory
  • the assembley rooms has local bands play, nameley, 3 freinds and eddy (blink 182 wannabe's)and aqua fortis, formely "armontanzarian" and "8 page pull out" who rip off punk pop riffs and copy the latest trend, also the singer cant sing, and theres brassik lynt who kick ass, mike johnson's band, there the only decent band!
  • barton has a lot of local bands only one is good, this being "brassik lynt" or something, the bassplayer went to school with my older brother. aqua fortis rips off cheesy punk songs and the girl who sings, sounds like a pig being gelded. baths hall is pretty good for the big bands and the (h)ull adelphie.

Cinemas

  • nope, go to either scunthorpes veu ( i think thts how u spell it) or hulls odeon
  • there used to be two movie theatres in barton, one was called the oxford (now the sports centre on newport street) and the other one was called the star, which was knocked down and replaced by presto's, now barton hardware. apart from that, it's a trip to (h)ull or scunny.
  • No cinemas but the UCI and Odeon in Hull are 15-12 mins away. There is the Megabowl in Hull next to the UCI Cinema and an Ice Arena next to the Odeon. There is also bowling available in Scunthorpe near to BOC.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Barton upon Humber. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Barton upon Humber.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
