Cringing Cult of Celebrity (Famous residents and ex-residents.)

• Reg Varney from on the buses, is seen in the Feathers occasionally, as is Sue Lawley, she is lovely, my son used to deliver her papers.
• Tobs Holroyd ....did more for Budleigh night life (albeit sporadically) than anyone in its dull history. Sadly he died at 26yrs old. There is a memorial wooded chair just over the white bridge. Cross the bridge and walk up towards south farm, just before the gate turn right along the hedge on the river side. The chair has an indentation on the arm for your pint glass while you take in the veiw.
• reg varney lives in budleigh= from on the buses and margaret thatcher was going to retire here!
• They featured Budleigh Salterton in a Miss Marple murder mystery once, it was filmed in the house next to the tennis club! Does that count?
• The all like to think they are celebs in Budleigh!!

Buskers, Street Entertainers

• On the late night shopping nights in the run-up to Christmas you have people a-carolling and a-playing their instruments! ( I was unfortunate enough to be roped into this on my triangle one year!)
