Skateboarding Spots

  • New skateboard park stuck up out of the way at Penbeagle. Built there so the 'loveys' can drift round town looking at estate agents thinking no-one under 40 lives here. Was set fire to within days of opening anyway by some aspiring arsonist.
  • Skate Park
  • Behind St Ives Train station used to have home-made ramps/transitions/funboxes, and was visitable by others from local spots. Above the Lifeguard Hut on Meor is still a haunt, but it's getting that you have to travel to spots like Treneere in PZ or the bowl in Camborne. OG spots like Junior School are like Colditz now, except you can't get in rather than out.
  • outside the arcade
  • The new sommerfeild car park is where we all mainly skate, it's got flower bed gaps, waxed curbs and rails and a big sloping roll in with a flat bit at the top so you can filp into it. You can also skate the wallrides in porthgwidden car park. More out of town in Carbis Bay there are a few sets of steps outside the chemists with a handrail and on the other set there is a bar which comes out in front which you can clear.
  • Along the harbour front is about the onlt place possible to skate
  • Once upon a time there was an indoor ramp. More information, please.

Skateboard Shops

  • Rodga's (down Piss Alley) used to be the core shop, minus all the poser surf-shop BS in the other St. Ives stores; was part of the scene too, always happy to help. Now, Streetlife on Tregenna Hill is okay for reasonable (old season) hardware.
  • a new member to the pabb2001 team is midge thomas. well done lad. demos are being arranged with the local shops and council to show off the skillz of the crew. new video out in the spring called SNT. if you wanna be in it email info@pabb2001.com
  • quite a few skatey shops...an loadsa skaters on the harbour
  • there are several skate shops/surf shops in st ives. a new skateboard team in production called P.A.B.B. 2001 is setting up. riders include jon mccotter, caley mccotter, ryan lenihan, jeff edwards, jamie lenihan, gustav eden, ramsy murshed and rory macgregor, check out www.pabb2001.com or write to me at pabb2001@hotmail.com
  • A couple around town which are multiuse as surf shops because of the execellent surf beach on porthmere
  • As per surfy shops.
  • Vibes? (Is it called that?) Anyway: the one down Piss Alley. Run by legendary British skater, Rodga Harvey.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about St Ives. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in St Ives.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
