Food
OLD COURT HOUST - Fruit De Mer is especially good. If you like your crabs and lobsters this is the place
Beach cafe: Colette's Cabin. Angelina's (on the beach - Bel Croute - going round towards the Fort) - always friendly and good value. Sugar Basin (further along the bay towards St. Helier)
Tea Shops: Patichie (I forget the correct spelling) - at the bottom of the High Street. Panorama - on the front, near the Shapla Indian restaurant. It is also a Guest House.
General: Rooks Restaurant (part of Hotel La Tour - in Rue de Croquet [High Street] - is excellent. Decor is 'suit of armour', quarry tiled floor. Well worth a visit, but you'll have to book. Harbour View - Italian / French influence. Great salads. Well worth a visit. Bon Viveur - good value, but nothing startling.
French: Ker Francois - bottom of the High Street and turn right, towards the C of E Church
Greek flavour: Le Cafe (next door to Shapla) - good value seafood dishes & snacks
Indian: Shapla - well worth a visit. In the Good Curry Guide, and I can see why. Good quality, lower floor has a 'conservatory' type atmosphere
Portugese: Cassiano (have visited - good value, not too pricy), Portofino (similar to Cassiano)
Pubs
The Tenby is still good. If you like red wine, their House Red (Kressmann) is perfectly acceptable and (July 2003) only £6.50 a bottle. Their Cheese & Onion salad is a BIG plateful and always fresh.
Everywhere. I'd go to Soleil Levant, Bath St, St Helier or The Bridge by the Weighbridge. Everyone loves the Chambers, Babylon and Breeze in St Helier. I like the Buddha Bar in St Helier, absolutely lush decor and everything! Very nice. But we like the pubs too, St Mary's, St John's and the Blue Note of course.
The Tenby. Very good for food in the evenings and at lunchtime. Last orders at 8pm.
The Courthouse has a very good restaurant upstairs with waitress service. Also good bar food downstairs.
The Tenby. Why did they change it? It was nice the way it was..a good'ole Jersey pub ma'luv. Calrie and Wintir were regulars until it changed. I loved the pool table in the back.
The Wine Bar. Can never remember leaving in all the nights I have had there. Annie R always reminds you as she can hold an amazing amount of booze.
Trafalgar (bottom of High Street)
Tenby Bars (Harbour: standard pub)
I always use the Old Court House Inn - the one that featured in the Bergerac series - as it has well kept beer and good food. Service may sometimes be a little slow, as it tends to ger very busy in the peak season. Friendly place. Good seating at the front.
Cafes and Coffee Shops
Bean Around the World at the Arts Centre and on Union Street. Very good coffee. Try the latte.
