Food
Sidmouth has a dire selection of reaturants, only surpassed in their direness by the take aways. Head out of town to eat.
Sidmouth Dairy in High Street - you've gotta try their stuff
Vinnicombes bakery is the yummiest scrummiest bakery in the town and the girls behind the counter always have a little twinkle in their eye!
The White Horse take away chips are the bestest most tastiest ever in the world: don't let em ever get replaced by MacDonalds' poor excuse for a portion of chips
Pubs
The Marine stands head and shoulders above the rest of Sidmouth's hostelries.
Well I have to say the Mermaid has a amazingly fresh faced crowd which drink along with the hard old drinkers who sit in the corner and think back to the old times. Overall it is a very cosy, welcoming pub and everyone knows everyone.(so be careful who you snog!)
Best pub - The Swan. just a drinkers pub. No thrills. Stuck in a 50s timewarp. Unpretentious. Liked by your dad. The marine bar is probably the best younger persons bar
The Marine is for sure the trendiest, coolest place to be (if you want to be in a "trendy" "cool" place that is)
Just 2 miles North (buses run till late) is the Red Lion at Sidbury. agood locals and visitors are welcome in this pub with three different Real Ales and food.
Dancing to a good band in the Anchor Gardens is as close to summer as England gets.

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
