Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
Carinas - the ruin of most of Sidmouth's finest youngsters.
I have heard rumours that the infamous "Carinas" is now open until TWO a.m: go, just to convince yourself there is a meaning to life and the world is a completely sane, predictable, and paradisical place in which to live
Live Music Venues
The Balfour Arms has regular music.
The Balfour arms has live music most saturdays, the only venue in town with a stage. Great atmesphere, food served and kids welcome
We hold an acoustic music ‘open-mic’ event and do not limit the genre or style (as long as the language is suitable for general consumption). Performers generally play one or two songs. Entrance is free to everyone! The evening consists of two sessions with an interval of approximately 10 minutes. For more information visit www.e-acoustic-cafe.co.uk or email renee@theacousticcafe.co.uk
During Festival time, anything that has a roof.... or a power-point! The bus shelter could even hold a nice band together
Connaught Gardens Band Stand for the best drum and bass in the valley.
Cinemas
Sidmouth Cinema upstairs is sooo comfy, complete with tables for the cheap popcorn - have to choose your movie carefully though!
Radway (Orange Wedenesdays have boosted trade)
More of a magic lantern show than a cinema - currently showing Ben Hur for the first time...
Who said Sidmouth Cinema is pants? Ok so the films take a couple of weeks to get there, but its clean - tables between the chairs upstairs, refreshments upstairs. Loads cleaner and better value for money than Odeon/Savoy. Pants I don't think.
Sidmouth cinema is PANTS; but it should be supported by all you Sidmouthians. Perhaps an increase in revenue will result in less pantseyness.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
Have Your Say...
The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.
You can tell us more about Sidmouth.
This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here.
(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form
to tell us about events happening in Sidmouth.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
