Food
There is often problems with the shellfish for various reasons!
Well, what can i say....there are lots of brilliant restaurants to suit all tastes
''The First and Last'' is probably the best fish restaurant on the island with
amazing views over Braye beach and the harbour, however most restaurants and
pubs serve locally caught fish and shellfish. Try ''The Marais'' for a good
home cooked meal by an excellent chef at very reasonable prices. For those
that like something abit more foreign then there is an Indian Restaurant,
a Chinese Take-away and an Italian....But please dont come to Alderney
without trying the fresh seafood at least once....

Pubs
There's a good selection of pubs to suit most tastes. Avoid the Rose & Crown if you don't like cctv cameras pointed at you while you try to enjoy yourself.
The whole island is one big pub.
Pubs are Alderney's best asset. This is all the locals seem to do, so if you ever go there, you must do the same. DRINK!!
All pubs in Alderney are good, some are just better than others
16 pubs in about 1 sq mile, makes for alot of drinking and socializing!!!
The best of the bunch is probably the Albert House in the centre of town
(town is only one street long so you cant miss it)!! The Chez bar will be
open again in a few months after refurbishment and this is threatening to be
''the'' place to be seen in the summer of 1999. For the best beer gardens
check out ''The Moorings'' which overlooks Braye Bay, and Nellie Grays Garden
which is in Town. Most pubs however do have some sort of Garden. The drink
is pretty cheap and cigarettes at the moment are approx £2.67 a packet.
Cafes and Coffee Shops
Most pubs double up as cafes aswell, so the best ones to choose in the summer
are those with a garden. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of 'The Moorings' next to
the beach or sit and watch the world go by in Town at the Chez Andre.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
