Food

  • prego prego
  • what you would expect from a sea side town, the usual crap
  • the maltesrs arms in chapel amble (half an hour from Newquay) lip smackin grub
  • TRY WWW.NEWQUAYNIGHTLIFE.COM
  • curry n kebab don't do curries!!!!
  • Buzios is fantastic but a bit pricey. Lewinnick is the same but with a better view. Fistral Blu is a waste of time at night, they charge a fortune to eat in a place with a view you can't see! In the day try Prego Prego Breakfast Rolls or Subway for the Melt!!!
  • Theres so many take aways!
  • The Walkabout Bar. An Aussie pub serving great food till late, not to mention serving alcohol non-stop from 10.00am to 2.00am. They've got Kangaroo Burgers. If you are very fresh-faced, and you left the proof of you actually being 18 at home, get there early (before about 8.00), as the bouncers won't be on the door yet.
  • Senior dicks -Fab name, great mexican-style food, friendly staff, huge portions! what more can i say!
  • chinese next to Clancys!YUM!
  • Not Red Lion as you will find out too late.
  • I work at burger king and i think that it could be improved i recommend the plain royale and sauce of your choice.
  • DEFINATELY THE KEBAB SHOP OPPOSITE THE OLD CHURCH JUST PAST PROSURF!
  • We stayed in Newquay for 2 weeks last summer (2001) it was real hard to find somewhere decent to eat (the shack opposite fosters was awful!)Then on the last day we discovered the Newquay meadry definatly the best restaurant in Newquay by far, its by the bus station & the food is simply amazing! Great atmosphere and the chief has totally lost the plot! GO THERE!
  • The Bowgie Crantock is ace for food - the view is breathtaking - good surf beach!
  • truscotts again

  • Where can I go for a really groovy sandwich man?
  • Lewinnick Lodge as below
  • Food for thought. You haven`t got a clue until you`ve been there.
  • I had a great pizza in Rossi's on Fore street, very cheap and very filling. The only bad thing is that they close at 11.30.
  • Burger king and the side road fresh fish prawns that you can just die for
  • Chickenburgers at Chick King (near Towan beach.) Food for Thought, GREAT ROLLS. Try Tuna/Chicken, eggmayo and salad on white bread.

  • In and Out - The best fish and chip shop in Newquay!!!
  • Burger King at two in the morning is an experience.
  • Cheap to eat, nice burger bar at Fistral Beach. That is the place to be during the day, but get there early as it gets really busy.

Pubs

  • I have not been to Newquay Arms for a pint of Strong since the 80's. I can't believe it's still around, or maybe I can; the memories! I'll make it back some day; I pray! After hours at the beach were awsome, with a case of Steam of course :P
  • Pubs, seems the licensing laws for Newquay have changed since the law allows 24hr licenses, and many places now open for far longer, not the 01:00hrs cut off mentioned in the blurb.
  • Offshore pub in Pentire. Has some serous late night drinking session. Also got hostel accommodation and hilarious staff, always willing to help.
  • the sailors or the boarding house
  • Fosters bar/restaurant. Not impressed. Dirty cutlery, tables, floors and toilet. Also impolite staff. There are many better places in Newquay.
  • The Central does cracking strawberry cosmos ... Absolutely loving that place!
  • RED LIONS QUITE GOOD, AND BELUSHIS PLAYS ROCK
  • Berties is brilliant just because i met and pulled and slept with the sexiest woman i have ever met in there (AH Sharon from Bridgwater U rock)
  • Berties is ok, trevor nelson was on the decks in april there great night, venue needs some work though!1
  • THE ROCK CAFE!! the best pub, fantastic atmosphere, good prices, cute staff, nice dance floor & funny DJ. lil known place, tucked away but ace.
  • TRY WWW.NEWQUAYNIGHTLIFE.COM
  • Berties Pub is a bit rough, but a lot of them are. Newquay arms you will stick to the floor. The best ones are Central (cracking atmosphere) or Buzios cos its huge and if you get bored of the music they have a wicked pool hall on the 3rd floor!
  • Newquay arms i believe is excellent, sailors bar. Didnt bother with any others, have a bbq and get drunk then go out -- best option.
  • Sailors Inn was great! Such a good atmosphere just like all of Newquay, spent the nights with the 118 lads (you know who you are)! Then next door to the club-Brilliant!
  • Berties. Good atmosphere, relatively cheap drinks, and cheesy music. Unfortunately, on our second visit to Bertie's, they asked us for ID and refused to accept our entirely genuine proof of age.
  • The central pub- an excellent place to meet, buzzing with people on fri, sat, sun nights
  • central
  • Sailors
  • DROP IN DRUG CENTRES WIV MUSIC
  • The best pub to go to is fosters it has a nice atmosphere and some pool tables.
  • Take a tour 8 miles south of Newquay and visit the Wateringhole, the only pub on the beach in the UK! Good choice of beer and great food at a low price. Oh yeah, the bar maids are cute too! Check out the website at www.the-wateringhole.co.uk/
  • The old Cinema is now an austrailian theme bar overlooking heavy couples on towan beach! live bands in a chilled hip atmosphere cheap drinks and comfey chairs yet gets packed in the summer but with air conditioning things keep cool... definate pub stop!
  • if ur looking for a good pub, do the central and the newquay arms. great atmosphere and a fun nite.
  • The Bowgie Inn at Crantock is a fantastic pub with spectacular views, ideal place for relaxing, checking out the surf, chillling with a beer and the food is brilliant! Get out of Newquay and get your arse to the Bowgie
  • sailors or newquay arms
  • i know a good pup called the tree tops in its a family pup some nights the have a disco on a kareoke and quiz nights also you can hire bikes there.
  • Blue bar in porthtowan. Very attractive bar maids and a chilled atmosphere. Check out www.blue-bar.com for more info.
  • What can I say? GO to the cocktail bar at the Central for a girlie ticklie, a screaming orgasm or a warped willy and you are guarenteed a v.mad night.
  • CENTRAL PUB has a great relaxed atmosphere with a nice crowd of mainly early 20's. On Friday/Saturday night there might be a bit of boogying on the dancefloor but generally its just v. laid back. HOWEVER there was a lot of dodgy soft porn on the widescreens last time I went-sort it out, eh?
  • Sailors..Central..Newquay arms..Berties..Skinners..VicBars..Lewinnick Lodge
  • the new walkabout bar opened just before easter. we reckon its gonna be huge....
  • Lewinnick Lodge (overlooking Fistral) has Mr Clutch at the bar, smoking pot with shite one liners but the man is a star. Cracking waitresses, great food, great views, keep the local beers but not the locals.
  • THE VIC BAR has a really good jukebox if you like a nice bit of rock'n'roll, yeah baby yeah!
  • All I need say is the Newquay Arms. It is the best pub by far. There's a cool little stage for us girlies to dance whilst lads are held back!! And the cocktails are fab (a hint, try a Slippery Nipple - you wont regret it!!) And all the staff are really friendly, esp the cute bar men.
  • ALL ROCKI
  • Lewinnick lodge the best food, the best atmosphere and the best views in the world. happy customer.Should be at the top of the list for any age.
  • The Koola is phat, with the pint glasses kept in a freezer, and wicked DJs. Corkers on Tuesdays is £3 entry with all drinks £1
  • Red Lion. You haven´t been to Newquay if you didn´t have a beer at the Red.
  • CORKERS is an ace bar with 3 floors, cool jet ski machine in there which you'll find my record on as no 1. CENTRAL bar is sorted, first time i went in there was a stripper in there, um.
  • The newquay arm's is by far the best pub in the centre of town, which host a large amount of glass collecting talent. A variety of excellent cocktails can be found in silly glasses and is an excellent place to meet up with people.
  • The Vic Bars - Cool for real people.
  • The Sailors Arms, right next the Sailors is wicked, nice ale freindly people.
  • The Red Lion Public House. This is the place to be seen in Newquay, this pub is used by a lot of the locals and is specially used by the surfing community of Newquay. It is a top pub, they have an excellent range of drinks including Caffreys. The food is excellent value and resonably priced. There is a pool table and fruit machines for those who see the need. There is usually live bands on friday nights. Summary: This is the pub in Newquay with an excellent atmosphere.
  • There are MANY pubs. If I can remember correctly, there is one in particular, with is great. It's called 'The NEWQUAY ARMS..? - NEWQUAY STEAM pub? -- well it's the one down the shopping street, with people heaving out of the doors, and LOUD music. Lots of MONITORS showing surfing videos... CORKERS bar is a really good place to go. It is three floors high, usually packed. I would fully recommend this. It is easily distinguishable with its logo ripping off the Carlsberg one.
Newquay Arms is good but gets really busy at the weekends. Sailors still the best - pub and club.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Newquay. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Newquay.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
