Food

  • What about Frankie and Bennies probably the best restaurant in Kettering
  • Well i myself lourvvvvvvvve the italian Lui's at the top of montagu st, but over priced. You can always try mc donalds (always a winner)
  • FULLERS ROCKS!!
  • all the usual pizza companies perfec pizzas etc indian chinese for edible mexican try market harboro ooh thats good
  • Good Companions for chinese food take away or sit down Midland Band Club for dinner time quality food.
  • Boston's Diner for a quick meal or a 3 o'clock in the morning kebab! La-Lucerna's on Rocky Road - Truly Excellent authentic italian cuisine and good beer. Plus they always give you a really strong almond liquore for after your meal + a choccy too!
  • the orange house. best place to visit after a trip to the cinema or even for a good meal or drink on a budget. similar deal to the earl but better food, drink and service they also have music and much more beautiful staff.
  • Maccy D's rules!!! they make the best food! KFC is also good and dominos pizza!!! how can anyone forget that
  • some delisious take aways in kettering like sultans kebabs or ketucky fried chicken or the chinese on london road flames grill is good too
  • BEST KEBAB IN THE WORLD FROM KETTERING KEBAB HOUSE
  • If you like good Chinese. Thai or Cantonese quisine try the restaurant or take away at the Goody's Pub , Brittania Rd.
  • WARREN,......GREAT FOOD...AND LOADS OF IT
  • And if you're really lazy - The Raj do excellent home deliveries!
  • Dont go into extra care charity shop where OJs Simpsons tea is awful
  • Check out the Raj in Rocky Road for the best value in Indian - half price Sunday to Thursday, and never-to-be-believed business lunches at about 3 quid!! Excellent veggie grub and they'll cook a curry to your specification. No flocked wallpaper here - pine floor & cool decor. The place to be.
  • five star balti.montaque st.recommended
  • Mcdonalds, Tudor, Ise Logde chippy, Lee Gardens, Flames Sultans
  • yum yum maccy d's is exotic as far as kettering folk go
  • McDonalds do the best chicken nuggets
  • Field Street Indian is the best I've ever tasted and I've taste the best balti ever.
  • Mick Smith's Fish & Chips - gone north. Anyway, they don't know how to cook fish & chips down here (unless-u-like soggy batter). Raj - for late night Indian. Europa for decent coffee. (Both on Rockingham Road)
  • New Dominoes pizza just opened, hooray finally good pizzas in Kettering
  • Sultan's Kebabs deserves a mention as it is a great place to go after a night out on the town, or the morning after!
  • I can highly recommend Mick Smith's fish and chip shop in London Road.
For the best fish and chips in town go to Mick Smith's in London Road. I used to go there after a night at the Youth Centre (his dad owned it then, but Mick served at the counter) in the mid 60's. Oo ah his me duck, still as good as ever!
  • Kettering is not particularly well blessed with eating establishments, but notable are the 'Royal Bengal' and 'Red Rose' Indians, and 'La Lucerna' for Italian. For atmosphere but dodgy food, 'Franks' in Havelock Street can't be beat. Boston's is the place to go late night (at least it's open!), or you could try the 'Chicken B' (but I wouldn't).

Pubs

  • Sportz, since being refurbished (and becoming a little stricter ;o) ) is a very classy and fun little club type pub, the bouncers are friendly (a little TOO friendly ive encountered;o) ) O-malleys has some wicked music goin on if u like a bit of cheese(i do!) gets absolutly packed in there as its not massive so if u dont like bein cramped dont go ther! dance floors a little er...little but good. Bar sun, not a bad place, upstairs is nice and they do some nice drinks in these wicked long glasses! i cant not mention The Briars, brilliant pub in brambleside! tho i would say that!
  • Well if you want a fight hit the Warren, always a big crowd, lovely food, plenty of seating outside to gorp at everyone! If it's a quiet one you want The Melton offers free boredam!
  • the peacock was, and always will be for the geezers of kettering an absolute dive, and perfect if you're attitude stinks, and the only reason you're out is for a fight!....the best has gotta be the old market, attitude free and sound tunes!
  • Booze at the Old Market Inn is the nutz, and no fights.... well rarely.
  • kettering is heavin on a friday and saturday night period theres bar sun which attracts a more one sex atmosphere( in other words its a gay bar) the earl for the oldies and cheap drinks xtra has an atmosphere but fills up with the wrong sort the sports now this was once an underage haven but after being done up is said to be more respectable ha YEAH RITE omalleys my favourite drinks are resonably priced the staff are great (gengiz i love u ) dance floor and people of all ages henerys used to be the place to go but has now aquired quite a reputation for fighting also watch out for the bouncers rough is not the word peacock bit out the way but steadily poipular watercress harries mmmm nice cocktails quite homely with the log fire n all cherry tree/ old market in if your a greb go ahead if not 1 word AVOID
  • Bar Sun, Henry's, O'Malleys and don't forget to meet your Mum & Dad in the Earl for a cheap pint.
  • BAR SUN
  • Xtra has to be the place to be at the moment. They recently had a DJ competition where former UK Battle champion DJ Skully took the honours. Its perfect for pre-clubbing with all the latest funky, US house music being played on a Saturday night THE place to be seen in, in Kettering.
  • theres about 10 pubs in kettering or maybe more
  • I would like to put a few words together about the Xtra Bar, ran by Miss Kelly Dannon and her excedingly young boyfriend Daniel Pettifer, they have a son named Taylor and Daniel also has 2 daughters Jordon & Jayde from a previous relationship. They are both newcomers to Kettering and are very proud of the booming bar that they now run, with such a big family at such a young age every penny counts! pop in and buy a pint!
  • SWAN....PRINCE....EXTRA....O'MALLEYS...THE LIST IS ENDLESS
  • Shoulder of Mutton
  • Arrrrr! Rumour has it that the Old Market Inn serves up a fine mug of grog, thus attracting a gang of marauding pirates!
  • fav pub would be the peacock
  • Oh yeah mill rd with the same ole faces Jack Booker
  • The Cherry Tree is good pub for quiet pint with a friendly staff. Excellent value on good lunches.
  • Well, you cant walk into a pub without having no I.D.........
  • price of wales is a no go area it is a youth club, then again if you enjoy the freah faced areas of kettering maybe this suites you.. cellar bar under o'malleys is worth a look in as is the undisputed best pub the peacock.. one pub to check out is watercress harrys, the cocktails are the thing to go for if you are aiming to fall out of the door and 2 for the price of 1 will ensure that.
  • A new Irish Pub called O'Malley's is fantastic for live bands at the weekend. Also a new super pub has opened up called XTRA bar and is crammed full at the weekend with lads and lasses all tarted up for pre-club drinking. The old Watercress Harry's hasbeen renovated and is probably the only place in town to acquire a cocktail.
  • The Old Market Inn wins outright, unless you like kids (Henry's, Extra) or fights (The Peacock, O'mallys, The Rising Sun). Its also the place all the goths, skaters, generally cool people hang out (not actually saying that Goths are cool, there). Mention also the incredibly friendly staff, woohoo, the total lack of violence anywhere near it, and me being there, heyhay!
  • I must disargree with the comments on pubs as Kettering has a good number of good pubs. For example, a new Wetherspoons pub has just opened, The Earl of Dalkeith, which deserves mention and also pubs like The Sportsman's Arms, a loud pub with a good atmosphere, Henry's, which is like the former, and The Old Market Inn, a good pub with a friendly atmosphere, are worthy of a few words.
  • The best pub in Kettering is the Old Market Inn.
  • Only 'The Swan' bears mention here... need I say more!

Cafes and Coffee Shops

  • the pattiserie on dalkieth place is a nice quiet cheap little cake shop, opposite its a gift (oh yes!) teh staff are very friendly.
  • MUGS near the newland centre
  • mmmmmmm New Mugs has just opened and it's italian tastes have a lot to boast about!
  • my personal favourites are the tudor a chip shop which sells not just chips but has a choice or theres the bakers oven in the centre now htis is a bit open and over priced but foods worth a try
  • Like Mobile Phone stores - too many to mention.
  • Kenega, friendly owner, nice food, nice fruit juice and good strong coffee. worth visiting purely for the proprietors photography which he displays on the coffee shop walls.
  • try the one in the centre or the ones in montague street,
  • Kanega, Montagu street, since my last visit I noticed new decor, improved seating and whole new menu along with fruit smoothies & icecream bar.A small but unique venue this really is the place to be..Chris, the owner, tells me that www.kanega.com will shortly be live.
  • The RAMS put the cream in my coffee
  • Tudor pancake house Mcdonalds (Lush chicken nuggets)
  • jessicas tea shop is the coolest coffee shop in kettering (well nieghbouring village weekley) it may be fullof olds but its cheap cheerful quiet and the agrden is soo relaxing also for csome reason the ice cream is great....just be wary of the overfriendly owners
  • Kanega Coffee Shop - should open longer hours but well worth a visit , if only to look at his piccies of his travels ( I think you can buy these to make out you've travelled the world I surpose).

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Kettering. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Kettering.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
