Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars

  • Haven´t been to the club formerly known as the ´Glory Hole´ since all the trouble last year caused a whole load of hassle with entrance restrictions and so on, but it has to stand out in memory as being the best place to go for a cheeky lads night out, for its exclusivity if nothing else.
  • Club Indigo is fully air conditioned, our spacious venue has the state of the art sound systems, dance floor and VIP seating area. We have a large selection beers, fine wine and champagne. FRIDAY NIGHTS SOUNDSATIONAL Don’t make the mistake of assuming that Club Indigo is simply an out of town nightclub and is less lively than a full on nightclub in the heart of London. It all depends on the Dj’s, promoters and how the event is run.The night is Hosted by Dj Mr Jay from London’s new radio station Life FM. Dj Mr Jay who’s more than earned his stripes in the urban music game over many years, plays live at Club Indigo till 3am! SUPER SATURDAYS Live tribute and cover bands, playing live and unplugged @ Club Indigo Bordon Check out the line up @ www.indigoclub.co.uk
  • Best to go to Guildford...or Fleet, ALdershot, Godalming, anywhere but Farnham if you want a late night. Student Union is only for those who have just turned 18, if you have younger siblings be prepared to bump into them.
  • No clubs - my ex step-dad (he's young don't worry)DJs at the Plough but its full of irritating cocky art students and the bouncers are for some reason really cocky too - the student union is OK sometimes - the Cobbett has a classic jukebox which is constantly playing Black Sabbath and Deep Purple - you get 5 songs for £1
  • there ent no ova 18 clubz in farnham
  • Last month's Time Out listed 'The Glory Hole' in Farnham in the UK top 10 nights out section. It says that club remains off-limits to the public, but that access to VIP and industry nights is possible, and gives a contact. The pub still denies running the joint, possibly to avoid conflict with the council.
  • The student union is rubbish, rock nights are about the best with the occasional good comedy night.
  • No clubs, guildford is 10mins away so we go there
  • theres always a party at kyle mcculloughs.
  • there is absoutley nowhere to go after the pub, unless you include hanging around sultans, so just go to Guildford for a half decent night out or if you like violence and soverigns then aldershite or jaxx in fleet if you want bad drinks and annoying music!
  • That shit about the tunnel at the back of the Cobbet is bollocks. Change it from you site.
  • There are no clubs in Farnham as they still think the majority of the population is over 60, which taking a look at the Friday night crowd is totally untrue, they must have all died by now. Though there are no clubs there are lots and lots of pubs and resturants. Ohh yeah and there's the student union which stays open 'til 2 but you'll have to blag your way in, as obviously it's only open to the uni students.
  • Farnham’s only lapdancing and strip club, “The Glory Hole” provides the biggest kicks for those wanting some real hardcore action. Unfortunately, it’s members only and only few get access, let alone know about the place. After months of failed applications to obtain a licence for gambling and stripping, the club has been running illegally since November 2001, and local police and the council are currently none the wiser. Situated round the back of the William Cobbett, entrance to the club is via a small hole in the wall. Once inside, a dimly lit tunnel takes clubbers underneath the dual carriageway to a casino, pole dancing rooms, and a spacious dancefloor. The traffic overhead drowns out vibrations from the sound system to passers by, so the majority of Farnham locals remain unaware of the existence of the Glory Hole. A night out that’s never to be forgotten, and proof that Weydon girls make the best lapdancers.
  • oh yeh theres a ton of em here
  • No clubs as such in town, although those of you with NUS ID or similar can get in the Art College Union, which goes on until 2am. Over 18's only.
  • The Plough in West Street NEVER lets UNDERAGE drinkers in, Especially if you get there before 7 when the bouncers get on the door. And the art college on mondays and thursdays has never let an underage person drink for £1.25 a pint ever.
  • None. There are a few in Guildford. Not very good ones though. London's your best bet but it's miles away.
  • Only late night club is at Farnham Art College
  • No - none in Farnham - sorry!
  • No way Jose, Clubs are like takeaways and MacDonalds to the CONSERVATIVE members of the local council, ie the very antithesis of middle class civility, you've more chance of seeing a Labour MP in Farnham than a Club (or MacDonalds).
  • IN Farnham ? You're kidding. Everyone goes to Guildford.

Live Music Venues

  • The Maltings
  • Farnham Maltings is home to the excellent Acoustic Fridays event bringing good original bands and songwriters from right across the area on the second Friday of every month- they've recently expanded to start having Electric nights where things are a bit more plugged in and rocking out.
  • The only place in Farnham which is a venue is the Maltings, however you can take a short train trip to aldershot and visit the Westend centre. The Westy is awesome and loads of bands play there. I think they have a website and mailing list so its easy to check out gigs and stuff.
  • erm Maltings does some battle of the bands - the harlington centre in fleet does some acceptable gigs - as does the westie in aldershite on occasion - you want good rock gigs best near bet is Brixton or Hammersmith Apollo - obviously Farnham isn't that far away from the legendary Reading Festival every August either
  • On eof the best bands ever which also have the best name can be seen in Rowledge. STU,LEN,BEN AND KEN are planning to do a gig at teh maltings in the summer
  • the maltings tends 2 hav a lot of rock gigs including battle of the bands, which is always mad.
  • umm -- lion and lamb where that guy plays his guitar badly
  • The occasional band will play at The Maltings but thats more for your parents. Several pubs do Karaoke which is always a lot of fun. Ye Oldie Flyer does Karaoke on Saturday nights and has a fresh, youthful drinking crowd.
  • The maltings has some punk rock shows and drum and bass night sometimes, check local press.
  • They have regular bands in The Lamb, Abbey St, some good, some bad.
  • The Maltings has live music all the time
  • The Maltings and the Art College provide most of the entertainment. But certain pubs also put on some good live bands i.e. the William Cobbett.
  • Regular Jazz at the Maltings, other notable venues are the Art College and the Lamb in Abbey St.
  • Maltings, home of an excellent Blues festival, not to mention the equally spiffing country festival.

Cinemas

  • No cinema - though there are rumours - Redgrave is depressing to look at - there is Odeon in Guildford (tragically Aldershite's ABC cinema was shut down for being generally crap, a friend once flushed the chain in the toilets there and it came off - sums it up really) and Ster Century in Basingstoke - we need a cinema - come on whoever decides these things - and why we're here why the hell are they pedestrianising East Street - who wants easier access to Peacocks and Iceland
  • Despite being one of the most affluent areas in the UK, Farnham residents have to wait for films to come out on TV, then sit with their popcorn on the benches outside the Sony shop on East Street, watching the widescreen TV though the shop's front window.
  • We have to go to Guildford because we have no cinema in Farnham.
  • Rumour has it that there may be a new cinema comming towards farnham, but plans will surely be yet another waste of good trees being incinerated. Oh well, lets hope the plans go ahead.
  • Guildford has a good complex.
  • Ther isn't a cinema in Farnham. However, there is a Film Factory on Monday nights at 8pm in the Farnham Maltings. They show lots of alternative films - pretty cheap as well.
  • Cinema demolished many moons ago, and the site remains a derelict eyesore.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Farnham. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Farnham.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
