Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
farnham isthe epicentre of clothing as long as u r a 75 yr old tory!
Clothing wise the joint is poor, unless you still get pulled into Peacocks by your mother.
Try curb surfers for skates, or locate the mighty Goleta Seven skateboard company. The run the distro from somewhere in the town??????????
Dont even bother save your money for a train to guildford
colours..by the supermarket
Next for the trendy, Elphicks the dept. store for the bourgeois, and Peacocks for the fiscally challenged.
Loads of shops for the older generation. However, there is a Next, Pilot and Dorothy Perkins. Although DNA have some alternative gear in there.
Train to Guildford is my recommendation, unless you like Tweeds.
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
There is the ashgate gallery and Farnham Maltings, Also there is a gallery at the top of the Lion and Lamb. When you get there, turn round and look at the statue. Weird?. There is also a Pottery in nearby Village Wrecclesham
arty gallery thing just off Downing Street at the bottom nr the toy shop - obviously farnham = v.arty as there is the college - was cheeky fish but that shut down they used to do crafty stuff - bizarrely is my little world which sells dolls house furniture - elphicks sells crafty stuff and there is great fabric shop in lion and lamb if u make your own clothes like the erm..talented moi. maltings is always doing arty stuff too
Cheeky Fish in East Street (in what was the Royal Deer pub, opposite Barclays) is great for anything kitsch. Lots of girly retro pin-up art products, fairy lights, angel wings, fluffy cushions and gifts. It may be pink but its not just for girls. 10% student discount!
the maltings has a pretty cool craft fair every so often. there's this hop in downing street where you can paint mugs and stuff, it looks a bit try hard but it's actually well good fun
art college i guess a couple of gallerys but only soso
The art supply shop in west street sells big marker pens and paint pens. And the big halfords had a fine range of spray paint.......For your car obviously.
any exhibitions going on in the university..farnhams quite arty really
Theres the Art College, which has a free gallery, oooh.
The New Ashgate Gallery is situated at the bottom of Downing Street. As for other arty / crafty shops I can only reccommend Presenly Yours in Downing Street - they have loads of unusual stuff from around the world. Remarkable Impressions is also a great place to shop - very friendly and lots of unusual gifts.
This town is Twee incarnate, plenty of galleries and shops, and the ubiquitous Maltings has exhibitions and markets.
Matltings Market, first Saturday each month. Basically one huge antiques fair.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. You can tell us more about Farnham.
This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here.
(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form
to tell us about events happening in Farnham.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
