Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
BroadWalk Shopping Centre has clothes shops among other shops. But be careful of the 'old folk' and kids on skateboards.
Well, apart from kids clothes and charity shops no real clothes shops however P&B's Bits 'n' Bobs does a natty line in used clothing.
A big MacKays which noone uses and a few charity shops
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
Well apart from P&B's Bits 'n' Bobs nothing much really. The recently shut down Emporium and Roccoco served no real purpose in the community. Who in Knowle wants a plaster Bust of Caeser in their front room? I am sure somewhere in the posh part of Knowle some trendy dangly earring patchwork trouser type is amking pots out of dung and straw, try looking for them.
OK stuff from a couple of shops in Largs. Well Connected, next door to Flannigans on Gallowgate Square has a few interesting things. Largs is quite a tourist place so there's plenty of entertaining tack to pick up
Magazine and Comic Shops
If you are skilled with slight of hand then you need never buy another newspaper or mag again! Put on your best sneaking shoes, creep up to one of the many drunken/homeless guys asleep on a bench in Redcatch park. Then with one quick movement steal his bedding. If you are lucky you may even get the recruitment pages from the evening post which is ironic considering whoes duvet it is!!
yes plenty of magazine shops. A popular past time of Knowlers is trying to find out which shop has the oldest magazine. My personal best is an 1985 A-Ha magazine found in my local newsagent.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
