Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
Rafters! Called Enigma now. Only go there if youre too pissed to go home. Fridays are homo-night. Saturdays arent much better but give it a shot.
oh dear...rafters...shocking dump of a place haven't seen the refurb, but wouldn't recommend it. Torquay every time! Or Exeter...
The new Enigma hush opened up the other week Hush meaning the downstairs where LA Bowl used to be its pretty smart in there its a lot better than it used to be but it costs more to get in on a saturday the drinks have gone up and its still hard to pull birds in there
Rafters(now called Enigma t change the image) this is the only club in town and frequented by arseholes, slags and grab a granny. Everytime Newton Abbot has more than one club it shuts due to trouble. Used to be Pollyannas and Pen Inn,now its just Enigma, better offgoing Torquay where you have about a dozen to choose from, you will need plenty of cash to doso though.
PORTER BLACKS is the ONLY!!! kicking place in Newton its open til Midnight Thursday - Friday - Saturdays. It has the best DJ in Devon playing all the best in R'n'B, Dance and Chart.
Rafters the only club in town, most of the clubs that were previously there have always been shut doewn due to lots of trouble.Rafters itself is crap with numpties galore
one in newton but its crap- rafters but your best of going to torquay they have five clubs with something to suite everyones taste
Teignbridge Trotters running club
Rafters is in all seriousness the armpit, the stinking, wart-encrusted arsehole of the world. Anyone considering suicide becasue their lives are so boring and pointless should give rafters a try to see just how lucky they are.
Rafters
'Rafters' - it's the place to be! Frolic, shimmy, shake your booty, but don't leave your belongings unattended.
Live Music Venues
Farmer! By the Cinema. Great place.
Jolly Farmer has many local bands. People say it is a good venue, but a tad small.
Jolly Farmer, The Fox, The Swan(you willprobably get stuck to the carpet),Market House, Courtenay Arms allusually have live bands from Thursday-Sunday. Sometimes the Queens Hotel has the best localband named SPINY NORMAN on irregular occassions, sing a lot of classic rock, all talented piss heads but worth a listen.
every year they have a fusion music festivalin courtenay parkaimed at youngsters
nowhere in newton except occationally in the jolly farmer
The Jolly Farmer showcases many happening live acts - 'Auntie Peg's Singing Cat', for example, and 'Rust-ears Jim'. If you can't take the pace, check out the Ship on Friday night. There's a jukebox!
Cinemas
Alexandra is sweet in its prehistoric - trying to keep up but can't quite match the pace - kind of way. Torquay or Paignton better!
The local cinema is good, but the screans are not that huge. Disabled people cannot use the upstrairs screen, so the film you want better be on the ground floor. Good snack bar too.
the Alex...
Crap cinema which is prehistoric named the ALEX.
Does get busy and there are about 14 pubs within a five minute walk.
Alexandra, much like most other 1940 cinemas
got one but it's crap dont go to it!
Alexandra Theatre
The Alexander Cinema is somewhat small, but seems to keep up fairly well with the latest releases. Worth a visit if you're not planning on making a night of it.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
