Record Shops

  • AARDVARK MUSIC, is the best Record shop in Paignton, they specialize in Heavy Metal & Hip Hop, with some Punk, Rock & pop and R&B thrown in for good measure, Mostly CD's but Some classic Vinyl too! and DVD's They also stock T-shirts, Patches, badges, keyrings. If they haven't got what your looking for they will happily order stuff in for you from all over the world! The also buy in CD's & Vinyl if it's something they like, (top tip here: don't bother with generic chart pop it's not worth it),it recently changed hands and is now run by Sandra & Paul, who are great! so if your into Metal, Hip Hop or Music, go to AARDVARK MUSIC, just down the road from Tesco's.
  • Aardvark is great, and im in love with the owner..nick i love u forever and ever i dont care what jenny thinks!
  • woolworths is gash. goto frickin aardvark music, dey are safe bruv

  • That shop on the main tourist drag sellin irish bootlegs
  • The is a good shop for records called Aardvark music and this is located on the Dartmouth road close to the junction with Totnes road and near the centre of the town. The sell underground music and second hand C.Ds etc and may well have exactly what your searching for. Woolworths is unfortunately now the only large record shop in town. If one wants more you will have to travel to Torquay.
  • NONE - The only place to buy CD's is from Woolworths. There are however two second hand record shops.

Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars

  • Crazy Horse - good selection of music and fun place to go!
  • that gothic place hideaways is shut right? i fink them scruffy boys go to hot rock now where all them sluts are at
  • The Cave is a cool hang out. Its beneath the Beach Bar on Paignton seafront opposite the cinema. Thursday nite is jam nite so anyone who wants 2 have a go just go down. Friday-Sunday nites are rock nites which r cool 2.
  • The Monastery in Torquay has become famous and one will have to queue even in the wintertime. Unlike so many nightclubs it is not owned by gangsters, quick rich merchants, and wide boys. Starts at 00:00 Saturday night and ends Sunday morning at 07:00. Can you last that long?
  • The Fiesta Inn is now called Sport XS, and the club upstairs is called Club XS. The Mermaid's club (formerly Slammers) is now called The Void. The Spinning Wheel is great for live music, and all ages (don't let this put you off, it's brill..)
  • "The Monastry" For high power rave music and those not short of natural energy

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Paignton. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Paignton.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
