Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars

  • Puls8
  • Pul-8 is great, definately recommend on going there. check out monday nights when its less busy, cheaper entry and drinks promotions. A great night out!
  • Puls-8 -- yeah I thought it was pretty good aswell--some good looking staff aswell!!
  • new club puls8 is ok which is very surprising, music isn't to bad, it's definately better then 2xs and gossips, u don't stick to the floor.
  • The Station Bar part of the puls-8 nightclub complex. Very modern lively bar situated in the centre of town. Best place around for now!
  • What night clubs since gossips was closed there are none within a 7 mile radius of St Austell.
  • Watch this space Eden Club nights planned running monthy from february...dates yet to be confirmed!! Very popular lively venue. 8pm-1am various dj's heading the line ups...again watch this space or the event page!
  • Puls-8 nightclub a year behind schedule! should be ready for a march opening!
  • HARBOURSIDE INN. ST AUSTELLS NEWEST BAR BASED ON CHARLESTOWN HARBOUR.BIT TOO SMALL FOR THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT GO THERE ON A WEEKEND.VERY LIVELY, MODERN BAR..BEWARE...STRICT DOOR STAFF
  • NEW CLUB DELAYED BY MANY MONTHS...THEY SAY ITS OPENING IN JANUARY...BUT I'LL BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT...ITS ONLY 8 MONTHS BEHIND...SO DONT BE TOO OPTIMISTIC!! REMEMBER THIS IS ST AUSTELL!!! PS....THE COUNCIL SHUD BE GIVEN A VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE...LETS GET EM OUT!!!
  • NO NIGHTLIFE HERE ANYMORE ALL CLUBS GOT CLOSED DOWN. NEW CLUB PULS-8.OPENING BEGINING OCTOBER 04.WITH CLUB,BAR N RESTAURANT. 1100 CAPACITY.
  • Urm Gossips which is (thankfully closed now) and 2XS which is hey.... demolished so we have jack to do at night time in our stupid crappy town now ah well they had better come up with summut good when re doing this town
  • There isnt any...been all knocked down...largest town in cornwall...with no late nite entertainment venue...thats sad! nearest place newquay! sum 25 miles away only cost yah 50quid!!!! Eden project has eden club nights from 8 til 1am on a by monthly basis. good atmosphere.over 1000 capacity.
  • latest news on clubs in st austells is we now do not have any more! - both have been demoloished for renovation - rumours of a new club to open in summer any information added from here would be helpful!
  • Gossips & 2xs are closed but a new club in the town centre is on the way
  • We have no club at all in St Austell-- I think there is one coming-- website is www.puls-8.co.uk-- does anyone know when its opening
  • All the clubs have been closed down in St Austell. Best bet is to go to one in Truro or Newquay.
  • Totally nonexistent now that they are all nocked down. Gossips knowcked down as I type! 2XS knocked down 4 months ago! Goto Newquay or Truro! Oh if anybody has got the cash - build one, i'd go!!
  • Gossips is mint! Watch out for the resident clubsters Adrian and Emma (soon to be married.) Just don't lie down on the carpet - I was stuck there for two days recently.
  • club 2xs now closed, only gossips left!
  • Gossips rocks! Music is fantastic. I live in Newquay but always head down to Gossips when I want a class night out.
  • Club 2xs is ok.gossips good 4 1 thing-pulling.iam a babe and u wont find me there!i'll head 4 Destiny's in plymouth-thats where the lads r!
  • Gossips is always a laugh but always the same people when ever I go back people rarely move on down there it's like a time warp! Anyone remember the legendary Full Contact Nights ?? Are they still on??
  • CLUB 2XS nicknamed club 2small becuse its quite small inside but they play sum hammerin tunes DONT GO TO GOSSIPS by the time you read this it will be flattened to the ground (it were crap anyway!!!)
  • GOSSIPS!!!!it's amazing ignore all the rumours, plus they have new carpet so u don't get stuck to the carpet anymore. 2xs is expensive, and full of townies.
  • You know as I do that with enough drink both these clubs can be good it all depends on who you are with. I heard that the bloke that started 2xs only did it waiting for a complusory purchase when Alymer square gets refurbished.
  • 2XS is rubbish
  • Is Quazars (or what it is now) Still As Cheesy As I Remember It?
  • 2XS is the new nightclub in town allthough I have never been yet it is suppose to be a pile of pants. Otehrwise there is Gossips which is all right if your desperate. you are better off going to Truro or Newquay.
  • um no where in st austell is good. I recomend L2 in truro it's v good
  • Currently we have two Gossips and 2XS,
  • Gossips - near carlyon bay, good on a saturday nite for pulling CLUB 2 XS - good on mondays, all the students go there. Saturday is good for hard house, dance etc..
  • Gossips, Or 2XS, both r ok, but i fink 2xs is cheaper! and has a better light-show!!
  • Gossips is pants, but its free on a friday for girls. yourll meet a vast array of towny specimins, whereas 2XS is, in my opinion, exactly the same. 50p a pint in 2XS at the weekend!
  • Gossips at Carlyone bay if you want a good laugh. 2XS the new club in Trinity Street has an older crowd, is smarter but small and lacks the fun of Gossips. The Waterfront at Carlyon Bay holds "serious" old skool nights etc, great if u like that kinda thing. If you want to get drunk, dance stupid, get laid then its Gossips every time.
  • should be more clubs
  • Gossips is not a nite club but an sfter hours drinking haunt, but is still a good night out in Cornwall. But would improve dramatically if they got rid of their current gorilla bouncers, and kept out ugly girls which their are plenty,as they are a liabilty after a few beers and can wreck so called reputations
  • Gossips is great, but keep moving or your feet will stick to the carpet.
  • gossips ,not bad when your drunk or if you want a one night stand!
  • gossips/waterfront
  • Beelzebubs,Bentleys or whatever the place is called this decade. (If it's even still open) Carlyon Bay. Otherwise... go to Newquay (Unfortunately)
  • Got to be Gossips formerly Quazars. It's the number one nite spot in Cornwall. Go here for a Mevagissey catch.
  • Gossip's is Pooh! Head for Newquay!
  • Gossips, Carlyon Bay

Live Music Venues

  • eden project, as the colusum has gone, but it costs so much to go to eden project, might as well travel up country.
  • Eden now has an ice rink! open thurs , fri and sat nights to the public until 10pm! with music and ice disco
  • got to be said Bethel Social Club new entertainment all in 2005 a must see with tributes and many other bands from soul to the Blues Brothers tribute,u2 tribute and a derron brown illusionist sort of thing, get there in the new year on Saturdays you,ll only here about it,we all moan at missing something.
  • EDEN PROJECT SUMMER SESSIONS EVERY FRIDAY IN AUGUST. PRIMAL SCREEM-6TH AUG, AIR-13TH AUG, SUPERGRASS-20TH AUG, WOMAD-27TH AUG. EDEN CLUB NIGHTS BY-MONTHLY FROM 26TH SEPTEMBER 7.30PM TIL 1AM.1000 STRONG CAPACITY CROWD.DJ GRIFF STARTING THE LINE UP.
  • closest place to snozzel wehere they do bigger bands.... would be truro but for big big nands u have to go all the way to exeter or plymouth dammit but there are random places where small local bands play like trewoon and stuff
  • st austell band club has go bands, rashleigh host a good variety and so does the sandy...holmbush is crap.Eden poject sessions...big name bands ... this summer , womad n supergrass to name a few.
  • The Holmbush - a bit red-neck like but cheap.
  • i dont hink ive seen a decent band in st austell, although womad at eden aint looking to bad.go to truro if you want to see a band
  • Plymouth Pavillions
  • are you joking nearest concert areana is bristal ( that bands go to)
  • hall for cornwall in Truro, the band club has good little band gigs.
  • The colleseum sometimes does concerts in Carlyon Bay,
  • band club
  • Band Club and Holmbush.
  • St Austell Band Club. The best place in town for music.
  • collosium
  • The Waterfront, Carlyon Bay
  • Carlyon Bay or The Hall for Cornwall in Truro
  • cornish leisure world at carlyon bay, host to festivals and world class music
  • The only one in Cornwall until the new Hall for Cornwall opened in Truro- The Cornish Coliseum, Carlyon Bay. Same place as Gossip's, but much more entertaining.

Cinemas

  • A bit rubbish and falling down but not that bad.
  • filmcentre- great cinema. old fashioned inside, smells of popcorn. way better than the one at truro. hope it doesnt get knocked down
  • well they still ave the cinema for now, it is still uncomfortable especially if u ave watched a 3 hour film lol. They say they r planning on building a new one when they can be bothered to, instaed they wanna knock things down and build car parks, like st austell needs another car park.
  • Cinemas!! Soon to be closed
  • keep the town going watch a film there, but if you want to drive it,s got to be Plymouth, but think of the nostalgia, and the popcorns hot at st.austell
  • CLOSING IN NOVEMBER
  • its all good but i remember when it was £3.50 for an adult to go.... now its £5 dammit so i dotn bother going unless its a must see film, just wait until its out to rent from the video bug
  • its crap thats being demolished in september and all!!
  • St Austell cinema is decent enough but truro is safer for drivers. (cars seem to be a target for crime for st austell cinema goers!) so for peace of mind go truro or park somewhere safe.
  • St Austell's cinima - I may now get in to see Crocodile Dundee (three times I tried as a yangun).
  • St Austell cinema is great, I've been told the actual structure of it is rotting. Anyhow its gonna be knocked down and replaced in a few years time.
  • The cinema is pretty good - it has seats and everything. The manager, Adrian, is pretty scary and he'll ask you for ID.
  • the cinema is large for cornwalls standards, but overpriced.
  • wadebridge is fine
  • ER Hello !!! Will you lot stop complaining i used to live in Cornwall and now live in London, £4.50 is a complete bargain for a cinema ticket opposed to £8.50 we pay up here, I suppose you lot in cornwall have nothing better to complain about GET A LIFE and stop being so stingy !!
  • The 5 screen in the town center is ok but it should be replaced, the only reason it hasent all ready is because the bisy bodys think it looks nice (not my opinion!)
  • take the plastic covering off the cinema and we would have a good looking building. i'm gald the campaign to keep the cinema was victorious because it has so much more life and pesonality to it tahn a souless oeden.
  • u have to travel miles!!!! very pricey! but still, a film is a film!
  • St Austell Filmcentre is in the centre of Town, very traditional, I would be very happy to go and watch a film there. There is also Ozzell Bowl which is situated at the top of the priory car park, this is a very good night out, and always lots of good drink offers!!!!
  • no way keep away too expensive
  • Yep we 'ave one of them. Horribly overpriced; but luckily it is soon to be demolished for restoration work on St Austell.
  • 5 screen cinema - shows much of the top films, good compared to truro cinema
  • Film Centre @ Almer Square, costs £4.50 for a film, bit of a rip off, but thats coz there aint another one for bout 20 miles!!!!
  • personally i love the cinema. all my friends werk there so i get free tickets. bowling is ok, you have the Video Bug Bowling and Ozzel Bowl, which is bigger and better.
  • ok but not much information there about films
  • we have only one cinema and it's vertually the only one for 20 miles or more it is situated in the town center
  • Film Centre is OK, but pricey.
  • snozzle bowl
  • Decent Cinema for the size of the town, probably the best in cornwall. It has 5 screens and a small bar, but alas there is only one in the town
  • St Austell Film Centre - 5 screens, art deco, has it's own bar.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about St Austell. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in St Austell.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
