Record Shops
Unfortunately Mordros records and number one records has closed down so you only have Solo Records in Pydar St, then HMV and Woolies.
Mordros records for Punk etc, number one records for 2nd hand stuff, solo records for the usual stuff.
Mordros music is pretty good for punk music not as good since they changed managment but its cheaper than solo and im against funding HMV to much and they have a pretty good clothess selection as well
Mordros Music, St Marys Mews (opposite SJZ Skateshop) for Punk & Metal.
Solo Music, Pydar St, good selection of everything,
HMV, the Piazza.
Flyin' Times outside upstairs somerfield, up the steps from behind mallets. Less House please.
The best place for music is Acorn records in Kenwyn street- its a second hand shop that seems to have new stuff, and all the classics
solo music is no longer opposite c&a because c&a has turned into newlook
solo music is ok but its not as good as it used 2 b
mordros music for punk/ska
theres a little one down pydar mews good for vinyls etc
Flyin Times - sells decks, mixers etc as well as vinyl
Solo can be quite expensive but some good rare stuff.
Small record shop in Pydar Mews is good for sixties and seventies rock/metal.
flying time in the lemon street market
Solo Music is outstanding. I've been around many London music shops and this unlikely city has one of the best selections where you will be able to pick up a few CD bargains too.
mordros records near SJz is cool... punk and indie etc...
solo music at the top of town by c&a stock a lot of good stuff, wide range.
retrack records in the market- PUNK!
Solo Records near the cathedral (ish) pretty good independant record shop
Number one records is the best shop in town. Solo music is going down hill.
Number 1 records , good condition vinyl through the ages plus latest cds Pydar mews opposite ottackers bookshop
Acorn Records, Kenwyn Street - cheap second hand stuff
Solo records - not bad but doesn't beat Woolies.
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
Zafiros, New Bridge St. Bar 200, River St.
L2 Nightclub Calenic St - SJZ sometimes puts SK8 Premieres on here.
Chicago Rock, (boring)
L2 is a good club by cornish standards and has had banging hard house nites with dj's like anne savage, lisa lashes, lisa pinup. The hard trance dj mark eg has blown the roof off there, there resident mischief is ace worth going.
Well, L2 is sometimes a club
Why not try Chicago Rock Cafe' good range of patrons,VERY friendly staff.Had a great pissup.Go see for yourself.
Plenty of clubs for the over 70s.
L2 - the only decent club in Truro, Fridays is Hard Dance night which although sparsly attended is about the only place to find something that aint all cheese.
People from Truro High and Truro school go there becauseb we are so bored in the town that L2 is the only where there is any tiny bit of excitement.
l2, doesn't come highly reccommende but it is the only one and does tend to act as a local haunt
The onion Bar for starters then maybe the loft for a spot of pound a pintouage! Awesome!Watch out for the girl who cant get her backside through the fire exits she's Joa's misses, and those twins (who don't look the same until 15 bottles of WKD's) and never ever ever think that a girl called Rachel is attractive because she so isn't and you will spend the whole night hiding from her as i did (Marc)
L2 for all of you after a youngun, or eclipse if you're after a sore ring, whatever tickles your fancy
L2 is good on Student nights. Get there early but EVERY DRINK IS A QUID! 'Nuff said. Friendly atmosphere but sometimes overpopulated by the underage Truro School or High School ruffians! Ahhhh
L2 is miniscule, but does have a chill out room...
previously secrets, then the lido, NOW eclipse is a gay club.
Well, L2 has a very friendly atmosphere, i really like it. but prepare to queue for at least an hour or so on monday night (i would get there about 7.30 coz then you'll be in by 9, and before they stop the entrance), and take umbrella with you! It's a pound a drink coz its student night and we all get very very drunk!
L2 was loft was alot of other things is the only decent place to go. Music is good if a little ( understatement) cheesy but also has dance/ trance. The age gap goes to extremes. I have seen a 78yr old woman doing boogie moves there. Quite cheap unlike chicago rock which has very high prices for vodka and cokes but good cocktails it is a kinda club for the richer variety.
l2, new version of the "loft" which opened about a year ago, opposite the "pig-ugly" BT building in Calenick Street.
The loft had a pound a drink night every Monday, get there early as there are hugh queues. Prepare to get very very drunk
The Loft, The Lido (formerly Secrets)
As of August 98 there is now the Chicago Rock cafe, which has tribute bands, crap food, but quite a lively atmosphere. also the Loft is moving to old auction rooms opposite the Chicago Rock.
secrets is now the Lido not the best club ever!!!!
'The Loft', Truro's best nightspot? Well, that wouldn't be hard seeing as there is only one other (Secrets) and that is CRAP.
Live Music Venues
hall for cornwall is getting some decent bands now BFMV etc. . .
Hall for Cornwall is the only one really pretty shit mostly crappy musicals and ABBA or the rat pack tributes but every year there is fundraising festival type thing for SAS (surfers against sewage) and DECENT rock bands play last year funeral for a friend was supported by the bled 36 crazyfists and my chemical romance need i say more?
The Swan Pub, The Alehouse, The William IV, The L2 Night club, (Wednesdays Metal/Punk Vent nights are good) The Hall for Cornwall (bigger bands etc)
BAR 200!! Seriously underrated place
Most of the pubs have live music, William IV is prolly the best for it.
hall for cornwall, generally a bit crap, abba tribute bands highly likely
Hall for Cornwall is definately not a place you admit to going. It does however impress your gran as she has heard such wonderful things about it.
The hall for Cornwall (still the City Hall to most of us) seems to only cater for people with false teeth. Although Reef played a little while ago
Hall for Cornwall - should be called Hall for old people. Top acts include Joe Pasqualie and Paul Daniels.
The Hall for Cornwall, venue for small to medium sized bands, recent ones include: shed Seven,The Bluetones, Bjorn Again.
