Musical Instrument Shops and DJ Gear

  • I think there is still a tiny music shop tucked away near the train station, but it's pretty much just a cupboard and doesn't have much of anything.. just go to Ipswich
  • Cosy Corner - inside this gift shop is a great guitar shop called tech-mate. They sell lots of left handed guitars as well as Tokais, Washburns and Arias. Plus folk music stuff like Ukuleles
  • Bannisters sound communications 38 regent Street Stowmarket. you will need to take a walk to find this tiny shop packed with guitar gear, its on the the back streets not far from the station and its only open on monday friday and saturdays but its well worth a visit.
  • i'd say ipswich. But hey! What do i know???
  • Ipswitch!!!
  • Everything you'd need was Ipswich or Bury.
  • i think there is one crusty building on the corner next to inbreadtv inc.
  • one by the church
  • THIS IS NOW BEING UPDATED 2002. They still have the music shop near Capones but i think they only do music lessons now.
  • Tower music at last a music instument shop in stow that sells more than just brass instrument cleaner........................What was that? when? oh! Well i was just informed that it shut down months ago.
  • Came and went!
  • Tower Music! Absolute HEAVEN!
  • I KNOW THEY SELL PANPIPES IN THE POST OFFICE IF THATS ANY HELP
  • tower music on station road.....a daft place for a shop...a mere 2 hour hike from the nearest car park.
  • A good helpful music shop has recently opened in the town, Tower Music offer lessons, instruments and advice.JAM
  • Yes we have one, just down from the church, toward the station. But who wants bagpipes in Suffolk?
  • A new one by the church - sells guitars n stuff
  • Simpsons's sells little plastic trumpets. T.

Recording Studios, Rehearsal Rooms, PA Hire

  • Just inside milton road car-park is the event shop, which has a fancy dress library, many jokes and gags, wigs, disguises and many other accesories. the prices seem very reasonable (costume hire from about 20quid + refundable deposit.) they also hire out disco equipment-lights and sound system including speakers, pop in! you`ll be surprised, i know i was. it took me back to my teens when it was cool to get on a train to ipswich and go to the joke shop, the only joke shop i see now is the local job centre

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Stowmarket. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Stowmarket.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
