Food
No quite cheap but the new owl and pussycat is nice
Harbour Fish Bar - Northumberland Place, Teignmouth, Devon, Tel: 01626 775906.
Jolly Good Fish Café - 6 Teign Street, Teignmouth, Devon, TQ14 8EA. 01626 779020
Pizza house on the den is great, open til all hours!! Chinese is good, italian is good but pricey and the new indian is really nice! Fish and chip shops galore, one near the jolly sailor is the best!
The Collosseum is good.
There's a really excellent cafe/restaurant called The Green Room next to the theatre. Wonderful coffee, delicious food, lots of veggie stuff, lovely people & good music.
Luders cake shop, high calorie, high fat - bloody nice cakes and pastries.
the cantonese place opposite the seaview diner does nice chips...well, they're nice when your drunk. not to say they're not nice when your sober! there is a place called maxim's up teign street that does well nice chinese food, as does the golden lion down near the dillons shop.
Goodfilla's is alright
Never NEVER NEVER eat in the Gypsie Moth or THE PICKWICK. The latter have an open drain in the kitchen, pour ALL manner of gunk into it and have been warned numerous times by enviromental health....Nuff said?
The Italian... the colloseum... FINALLY somewhere decent to eat in teignmouth. food is lovely owners are friendly what more do u want.
SEA VIEW DINNER
VOT IZ ZIZ FOOD... ??? NAH, A GOOD CHINK CAN BE FOUND AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL, BY THE GARAGE...
A few restuarants. The Waterfall Room for a more superior night out, Drakes and The Northumbrian for cheap & cheerful, Chinese, Cantonese, Indian, Fish & Chips and in the near furture an Italian. Lots of choice!
THE JOLLY GOOD FISH AND CHIP SHOP IS THE BEST FISH AND CHIP SHOP IN DEVON... Many mad morris dancers descended upon it the weekend of the folk festival, and it serves the nices lobster tails I have ever eaten.
The Pizza House in the triangle is a good place to go after a night out wandering around the hundreds of pubs in Teignmouth. Stays open until really late. Only trouble is that the owners barely speak a word of English!!!
There aren't any brill restaurants to speak of but if you want a real posh do then the only place to go is the Waterfall Rooms.
A really 'cheap and cheerful' place to go is Drakes Hotel in Northumberland Place.
There are food shops a-plenty, what with this being seaside town. Most of them are Fish & Chip shops or small cafes. The cantonese was good though.
Pubs
The Blue Anchor serves a large range of Real Ales and has a very pleasant beer garden.
The Ship is the best pub in town, not trendy or gimmickly but does good beer and food and has a brilliant view of the harbour and Shaldon (for those who'd like to live there but can't afford it).
my favourites are those frequented by the older people, like the newquay, the ship and the devon arms. there seems to be too many people in the other pubs i remember from college being young who are now like 19, and it makes me feel old...
What about the best pub in town then? The Teign Brewery!
wonderful characters such as Cornelius Corn the winkle picker, Sue Bolt the docker picker, Billy in the corner,
its just about to have a complete refurbishment. coming soon fabric covered seating, non slip flooring (as long as you're laying down that is) heating, lighting, electricity, There is even talk of an inside loo (thats if you can't be bothered to use the mens, you fussy, lazy wenches)
see you there!
Hooray for the KINGS ARMS, small discreet, but have a wonderful pool team....ahh!
Dicey's. fresh and not so fresh faced people drink here. Best pub in town for friendly and fun service that can sometimes has a warped sense of time. Ha Great place. The Ship is the nicest place in summer just grab a pint and sit on the back beach looking up the river towards the moors... The bottom of a pint glass never looked so good!!
GOLDEN LION, BLUE ANCOR AND LOADS OF OTHERS
The Cellars is a good one, also check the back beach in summer, always a good atmosphere. But never swim when drunk!
I DONT EVEN BOTHER TO GO...
BETTER OFF TO JUST DRINK A COUPLE OF BOTTLES OF VODKA, AS SOON AS YOU WAKE UP, TO ATTEMPT TO DISGISE THE REALITTY OF LIVING IN THIS TOWN...
Lots and lots! Great place for pub crawls. If you like a good pub meal I would recommend The Lifeboat. Excellent!
The New Quay! - Hurrah for good pubs.
Strikers, Dicey O'Reileys, Queensberry, Devon Arms, Jolly Sailor and King William are top teenage hangouts. The pub for the more mature person include the Lifeboat, Brass Monkey and the South Pacific.
The Endeavour The Ship The Jolly Sailor The New Quay
Loads - this is one of the most popular "crawls" in Devon. Gets a bit nasty on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays. For the great beer, evocative estuary view and beach tables, though, you can't beat the New Quay.
Teignmouth is full of pubs. I mean FULL. stuffed to the hilt.
Cafes and Coffee Shops
The Beachcomber - 100 yards from Teignmouth Pier
Naughty but nice - good wheelchair access & has salt pastry displays on the walls. There's lots of special offers on the menu, the coffee is freshly ground with a choice of home made cakes & scones to try.
Dont go in that cafe between Oxfam and QS the service is terrible and the coffee is disgusting!
SEA VIEW DINNER
Loads of Cafes. Pickwick, Sea View Dinner, Scoopys, Harbour Lights are among the best, depending on your tastes that is!
GOOD FOOD AT THE JOLLY GOOD FISH CAFE ORDER YOUR FOOD AND PICK IT UP
The Sandwich Shop is a top place to go, there's nothing else on this earth like a prawn bap with seafood sauce from there.
If you like you food covered with grease then go to the Seaview diner.
