  • Walsall needs to be replaced with one big mosque. Amen brother.
  • I was born in walsall, and I curse fate every single day.
  • I was born and bred in Walsall - I still love the town, yes it has its bad spots - and I can see how the town has changed over the years, but the people are still friendly enough - there never was much to do here so that hasn't changed - I've lived and worked in other parts of the UK and overseas but Walsall is still home -
  • In a recent poll Walsall was voted 'The Most Pointless Town In England'.
  • sounds like you people dont like walsall much, and compare it to the second city of the UK, namely Birmingham. Well you clever bunch of f*@$%ing T$%ts, why dont you get in a taxi cab, car, bus , or even the train (that leaves twice every hour from walsall) and go to Birmingham (20 mins journey): why turn Walsall into another Birmingham when we can go there whenever we want in 10 mins flat if you want. stop complaining that the place is isolated and then contradict yourselves. you fickle children who have not lived. laterz
  • The Library has a poetry writers/readers event on the second Sunday of the month at about 1:00 pm.
  • if your homeless go to the civic centre
  • I moved from Ireland to Walsall and I haven't found a bad thing wrong with it, the people are grand and friendly, can't say much about the nightlife but sure thats when you head of to Stoke or Manchester. Also why do you all have nasty things to say? it isn't as if you lot come from a better place. Walsall is the only decent place in England and that stuff about the IRA bomb is untrue, trust me I know I am Irish after all. WALSALL FC FOREVER!!!
  • i love my home town and big up the hip[po
  • Churches! Unity, dedication, passion for their area, all mark the Christian groups in this area.

  • I might add that it's really just walsall town centre that's the problem - the surrounding area, particularly aldridge, is really nice. Basically, a lot of trouble could be avoided if the bouncers had a charisma injection and stopped being pricks, and the kids in walsall have something to do. Not all of them skate, you know!. also, the council suck and are gonna go under soon if they don't start being a big tighter with the cash. And all the new civic projects are good for the town, so give em a chance. the illuminations this year were particularly impressive.
  • Walsall must have the Ugliest prostitutes in the World! I wouldn't let them pay ME!! They all look like drug addicts...UGH!

  • Dont live in Walsall go there fair enough but you will die a depressive death before u you know it ..BE WARNED
  • DIE SLOW PAKIZ!!!!!!!!
  • I got mugged six times in walsall center and pickpocketed once. I hate to say it but it was always the same gang of wannabie black gangsters who thought that holding a knife at a poor white boy's throat, 5 years their junior, made them look hard infront of the girls with their long black ribbed puff jackets. Nice style there laydies.
  • Galactic Gathering is a charity convention for Star Wars Fans. And no Star Wars fans aren't all sad ( although some are nudge nudge wink wink Jase from the Troopers club). Come down on the 24/02/02 its happening at the Royal Hotel from 11am onwards.

  • Walsall is a smashing place to go, everything is accessable within' a 10-15 min' walk, and there is a MASSIVE park (the Arbouretum) where you can take the kiddies to wear yourself out.
  • A lot of what is said here is true but most people don't seem to realise that when God rested on the seventh day, he had intended making a start on Walsall, you know how it is:- I guess he just never found time to get back to it.
  • dont go to farm foods they have mice in the freezers
  • hum
  • Hey! You forgot me!! Lived in Mossely Estate, Bloxwich.Played football for Mossely Rovers.Went to St.Peters R.C.school (remeber that) then in 1971, I moved to Oslo, Norway, where I became a famous professional footbaler for Skeid, Norwegian cup winner 1975. I've been a DJ here since 1977. If I'm not worth writing about then who is???? Greetings from Shay
  • Such a depressing area.
  • I would like to nominate Bloxcich in the borough of Walsall to be twined with Royston Vassey.
  • There's a tatoo and piercing studio on broad street, and the lad who does the tatoos thing os just wonderful. do not hesitate to ge there, if you want your skin to be greatly redecorated, it's terrific!!!

  • I hope the people in Beechdale neighbourhood office die of something painfull, hopefully something to do with lighting and electricution. I also hope Zoe Goddard and her family end up in as much debt as she landed me in. • When Wesley and his preachers acame to walsall he was beaten and evicted! In the Darlaston area of the town women who converted were raped and their children beaten. That just about sums the place up i'm afaid.
  • There's an alley round from WH Smiths, that leads through to the bus station, which acts as a notice-board for local gig flyers and that sort of thing, pasted up on the walls.
  • At least its a cheap bus ride away from Birmingham if you want decent night life.
  • I started work in Walsall six months ago. What an appalling example of everything that is wrong with Britain. Thank god I can escape back to civilisation at the end of the day. Commuting 100 miles a day has never been such good value before. If the town council is looking for a new motto to stick under the coat of arms how about 'Walsall born and Walsall inbred'. A complete town with an I.Q. of 100!! Friday night in Walsall should be filmed and given a Richard Attenborough sountrack. A town long overdue a plague.
  • Its ironinc that the prostitutes in Caldmore hang out on "Mount Street"; and that street has a sign at the top which says "Humps 400yds" (refering to the speed bumps).
  • Just another fact about Bloxwich in Walsall, one of the pubs I will not name used to be or maybe still is, the headquarters of the NF ( national front )
  • Walsall Is Not The Best Place Theres Nothing To Do When The pubs Shut And the Shops Are pthetic
  • Overall I just can't help being sarcastic about Walsall. No, it's well worth a visit (ha! ha!)
  • If you were born here and know plenty of people it's not too bad - you can split the petrol money and make escaping quite cheap. However, not somewhere to visit through choice.
  • Walsall has the highest obesity rate in the country - true!
  • Prostitution capital of the uk. something we can be proud of!!!!
  • Long live mad ramsey Walsall illuminations on acid!
  • Marj and Dor
  • The girls are crap, apart from my bird but then hers from sutton colfield so she doesn't count.
  • Walsall is the manifestation of Dante's Hell.
  • this place is very underatted, don't let anyone ver tell you its awful because it isn't. one of the best places to come from, if you have to come from a small town in the midlands. its limited and can be dull, but basically its cheap, cheerful and the people are ok (when not fighting)
  • I spent most of the first 25 years of my life in Walsall but i have since moved away and I know this is sad but i miss it, to me Walsall is still home
  • Prostitutes available anywhere around Caldmore epecially on the corner of Mount Street.
  • Walsall is a great place to live, it has a wonderful town centre, has rail and ample bus links, and is central to the motorway links. In short it has EVERYTHING!!
  • suddenly revamping the town, not so bad, but lacks class and style. claim to fame the ira tryued to bomb us and failed.....lol high rate of pollution...... 90% of kids suffer from astma etc other than that its not that bad
  • I have lived in Walsall all my life (now 40). When I was a kid in the sixties, summer always meant trips to the open air pool at Reedswood Park. When I had kids myself, we took them to 'Reedswood'. Sadly it has gone now, along with the landmark power station next door. There is currently a housing estate, industrial estate and Sainsbury's have moved in big time, around the area. The best thing about the pool was that, for so many kids like myself it was a 'holiday'. Getting older, progressing to the 'big' pool, swimming around the floating insects, lying on the bank, burning in the sun. Ice cream and crisps. The water was freezing but so welcome. And yes, to all locals reading this, I did once or twice sneek in over the fence!
  • I used to live in Walsall before I moved to Stoke. Well what can I say? It's just a cool place to be and be part of. Although everyone here in Stoke cannot understand my accent and continually call me a "Brummie" but as I point out, I'm from Walsall not Birmingham.
  • I have the problem of having to live there on a day to day basis. There is not to many good things about this town to say, I think, you have said all there is to say about it!!! At the moment a new construction site is underway in the centre of town to construct a canal basin complex with shops, bars and eating establishments included so let's hope that will give us more to do. The best hotel is the Friendly Hotel at junction 10 if the M6, where I can be found most evenings.
  • Walsall, as well as being in the Midlands (and therefore by definition houses some of the most friendly people in the country), is a bargain hunters paradise.
  • I lived in Walsall as a child. The best thing was the indoor heated swimming pool somewhere between Lichfield Street and the High Street. It may not be there any more. I lived in 37 Lichfield Street and I was sure that the house was haunted. Never saw anything specific, but the house was a couple of hundred years old and some parts of it felt very strange. I dream about the house thirty years later and I'm reasonably sane most of the time :) The worst thing was the grimy streets and the cold. From photos that I've seen recently, the buildings are a lot cleaner now. Someone gave me a book about the history of Walsall with lots of very depressing photos.
  • Small, dangerous, cold and wet Ñ that's Walsall for you. The best thing about it is Safeway curbs and the worst thing is that it's getting so gnarly and ruff.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Walsall. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Walsall.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
