Food
we got are local chippy's and restaurants- no doubt
Glasnost
an excellent FAMOUS CITY Resturant
lets face it TOTTERDOWN is the new Clifton well Montpelier Buy here now before you cant afford to .
PATCO cant be beaten for food and they are polite unlike some people
lots of Bargains
Glasnost at Totterdown of course and Mc Donalds in broadmead INIT One should eat to live not live to eat
Nosh is as Nosh does
Rose Garden Indian takeaway by the Texaco garage, Chinese chippys everywhere, and a kebab houyse almost right next door to the Oxford pub. Closes at midnight because the nimby's didn't want a late opener. Also Glasnost, a tiny bistro you can just see from the Three Lamps traffic lights. Excellent
Glasnost Restaurant - one of the best restaurants in the city right on our door step. Excellent selection of food and drink - all at very good prices - highly recomended. YMCA - has an all day cafe that does a great all day breakfast and there's a gym to work off the fat once you've eaten it. Salims Kebab Shop - great fast food, especially the chicken kebab - close to the pubs, so great to stagger into on your way home - well worth a visit. Ocean Fish Bar - Fish and chips meets chinese food - run by a great chinese couple - just opposite Oxford Pub.
Glasnost - Top nosh here from Baz the chef ( Don't play him at pool though!! )
Pubs
Oxford Pub and Shakespeare pub-well known
BORING !!!!
clean the nets in the Newfound Out please !
Oxford and Shakespeare PLEASANT mixed ,enjoyable
all full of roughs and drunks and smackheads and hoi polloi which I cant spell
some good ones in Totterdown especially
The Shakespeare
The Oxford
And some dire ones we know which they are
The Bush - Tacky nearly new place with an ongoing identity crisis. The New Found out, small, smoky, just up the road from the Glasnost, which is itself opposite the busiest pub in Totterdown, the name of which I have forgotten. The Cumberland, right on the fringes of Totterdown, which is a close as it should be allowed to get.
Shakespeare Pub - Opposite Glasnost Restaurant, great atmosphere, very friendly local. Weekly pub quiz nights if you want to stretch your brain power over a beer. Good mix of music - if you ask nicely they'll even let you bring along your music and play it!
NewFoundOut - Always a smile from Wayner and Debs behind the bar
Cafes and Coffee Shops
Y.M.C.A Sunflower cafe/coffee bar closed in September 2002
Greggs cafe is great on a Sunday morning when you're too hung over to cook!
There is the cafe on the YMCA very good but slightly hidden the other one which is good for gawking out of on the Wells Road hill ,a bit BLOKEY but good food (egg and chips ).
City Farm GREAT lovely cakes although they have changed the receipe for the choclate biscuit crumble cake cuz it had raw egg in it
There are no Coffe shops anywhere apart from the Sunflower Cafe which is Brilliant IS it in Totterdown . OK it is Totterdown
Sunflower Cafe upstairs in the YMCA building(opposite Dillons).Run by the ever pleasant Rachel. Good mix of locals, students and eccentrics.Papers and magazines(when they haven't been pinched) and displays by local artists.Big breakfasts,Roasts and specials.
the city farm is quite good for undisciplined children over expressing themselves
they seem to have built on all the farm land however . Lots of unretrained bosoms heaving about .Where are all the animals though ??
