    Thankyou for your tips Lou!!! I have now an ancester called John ARNOLD who was a bargeman born 1799 in Ringsash married to Betsey BLIGHT or BRIGHT. She was a dressmaker born 1813 in Weare Gifford apparently both remarried after the death of their respective partner and each with children from their first marriage Betsy had two girls Betsy and Jane,William one girl called Jane, later, My William and his brother Charles were born in Monkleigh not in Bideford !!

    Hi, Yes I remember the Lido. It was a cracking pool, but it was closed down due to health and hygeine laws. From the outside it looked like a villa. It was dismantled about ten years ago, there are now flats built in it's place. Brian.
