Thirty-two of Kent's finest gamers will do battle in various games for the chance to win some amazing prizes, including TWO quality gaming PCs base units, each worth over £350. The gamers will form sixteen two-man tag teams giving each gamer 12 hours of serious game time but, allowing plenty of time for tactics and socialising. A total of sixteen different games will be played, including Halo, Counterstrike: Source, Call of Duty 2 and Unreal Tournament 2004 to help pass away the night. The gamers will stay onsite for the full 24hrs, will sleep anywhere they can and will eat when they can! TI will provide all the food and drink to keep these crazy guys and girls going. At the end of the game-a-thon, Totally Insane will also be showcasing a special event. Sixteen of the participating 32 players will be selected to take part in a gaming death match; with the outright winner being rewarded the Golden Grenade to defend in Totally Insane leagues. Members of the public will be welcome to attend and support friends or family taking part in the event. Nick Pollard, director of Totally Insane said, ‘This is our second charity event and we hope that the hard work going into this game-a-thon can help such a deserving charity as Teenage Cancer Trust. It has attracted top gamers from Ashford, as well as from further afield, so the standard will be high. ‘Each participant will be given a sponsor pack in which they can help the charity further with sponsorship for the event. A minimum sponsorship of £15 is required to participate and there is also an entry fee of £18 payable at the door. This will include 24 hours’ entertainment, food and the chance for participants to harness their skills and win some awesome prizes. All competitors will receive a TI goodie bag on entry with some rather nifty contents (including a Totally Insane 24 t-shirt and a mousemat).’ Only a few slots remain, so early booking is advised.
