  • Is anyone able to tell me specifically who the promoters of Friars @ Maxwell Hall, Aylesbury Civic Centre were? Why? Because, firstly, I run two London-based record labels and, as one of those sad old nostalgists who attended countless Friars gigs from my native Hemel Hempstead in the eighties, I am determined not only to put on some live events in the Maxwell Hall later in the year or early next but, depending upon any legal or personal objections from the original promoters, I would love, as a tribute to them, to resurrect the name "Friars" for that purpose. Can anyone help me out here? I don't want to tread on any toes (or anyone's memories) but it would be a well-meant gesture if we did it. My email, if I'm allowed to publish it here, is neil@ravensbourne.com or neil@demerararecords.com or Neilpaulmarch@aol.com. Take your pick!
  • The multicultural alot of older people go there but they bands are good, punk, rock and similar. Also limelight is bigger, Bowling For Soup recenty came to the civic centre.
  • MNA downstairs-the last bastion of decent music-all else is total rubbish..friars is long dead..the old goths punks metallers have moved on moved out died or settled down-because musically speaking aylesbury died way back in 1995. Since then its played house garage rn b to a racist white audience who curse foreigners only to buy their msic hypocritically.-pathetic beyond words.
  • Levellers played recently. Bowling for Soup coming up. Damn ! I missed Tony 'Swoon' Hadley !
  • Jam session at the Queens Head some Sundays.
  • The Hobgoblin is about to start local band up on a monday night. It has to beat the pound a pint meat market otherwise known as crapargos. Plus they are open 'till 2am.
  • Lounge?????
  • MNAs rocks....the live bands are always cool and the resident carribean band puts on a good show...i aint complaining!
  • Sadly all the music venues have now dissappeared unless you have the nerve to call that dump The Hop Pole a music venue. Possibly the grottiest, smelliest pub this side of the equator.
  • civic if ya in2 old old old music
  • go to mna's best jazz club in the south
  • It's a sore point in Aylesbury....too many yeah yeah's and nowhere cool to watch bands
  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm civic center if u want to see mother o riley and her banjo sisters, oh and panto
  • Possible the vale park might be able to hold an out door gig...
  • the lounge
  • Any of you ole friars lot remember Bonzi? Any of you new alternative lot wanna be there at the beginning of something you've always wanted? See you at the Hop Pole Sat 2nd June then.If you support it, it can only get BIGGER...
  • Great Food, Fine Wines, live Jazz, Soul and Blues - That's the MNAS experienceMNAS http://www.mnas.co.uk
  • such a shame that both the factory and nam promoters quit the hop-pole and didnt see fit to take up anywhere else in town to be honest were all f***ing desperate for a new venue so we can have the likes of Janus Stark, Medulla Nocte, black candy, sikth and loads and loads of other wicked bands playing locally.
  • hot bar
  • Bar Med, definately the place to be, rumours have it that it will be open until 1am soon and upstiars turned into a club. Packed Friday and Saturday. Best Karaoke in town by far. Wanna get beaten up and look at munters then Chicago's is open all week, you'll be the only person in there Sunday to Tuesday.
  • The best place in the town for the over 25's has got to be The Base at MNA's, live bands Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and the best bit NO KIDS!!!!!!!
  • wot was the bucks arms playing at with that sodding cafe bit? now theyre doing gigs at the lounge its still only dreary indie + trash bands which dont deserve a venue, I've never seen a enjoyable gig in aylesbury cos its a drab small minded flaky scab of a town
  • The Lounge has started having live bands on some Tuesdays in the month run by the very enthusiatic Chris from So What! records - free admission and the Carling is £1.50 a pint!
  • Used to be a really decent venue in Aylesbury called the Friars Club featuring such prized acts as David Bowie, Queen, The Ramones, etc. Unfortunately long gone. No really decent music venues any more. Go to London.
  • Civic Centre
  • Bo! Respec to the old school Bucks Arms boys and of course the Hanger forever.
