Record Shops
- woolworths long gone
record sales now all now on internet
hector delivers furniture for ikea, still has the shop stock & sells on amazon
youll need to delete a LOT of irrelevant info. regarding record shops ok ?
- With reference to the jackass who gets off on calling Hector from Hectors House a cunt, I would like to know how much he actually spends on music, because it would be hard to spend a lot in terry hooleys shop. I have been a regular visitor to Belfast over the years buying records and cds and I think I have spent more in Hectors than all the other Belfast record shops put together. There are lots of rare and collectable records there amongst the bargains and I always find a few bits to make the cross-border train trip worth while. Unlike Hooleys place which he has just been cramming with two-bob cheapo crap for the last 15 years, 90 % of which has been there for the last 15 years. Yes, I do remember the old Good Vibrations shop with Elvis pointing up the stairs in the glory days of punk, but wake up those days are long gone. Teenage Kicks (masterpiece) is almost 30 years old. It is about 3 minutes long. Thats almost ten years a minute that Terry Hooley has been milking his 15 minutes of fame for. By the same token, should we all shop in virgin because Richard Branson brought us Tubular Bells. I'll get Terry a pint next time I am in Belfast, if he gets that car boot crap out of his shop. Thats if I have any money left after Hectors. Who's a cunt now ?
- just hmv n all that shyte
- music x change
- ahh ok i like hmv i can always find everthing in there, its well organised, hectors is good if u want cheap old records
- Virgin is the best but hmv is pretty gd.
- Hector's House on Bridge Street is great for old vinyl and used and new cd's and tapes.
- HMV has a good metal selection
- there's a hardcore metal shop in the upstairs of rip-off in North Street Arcade. I've never been. might be dodgy.
- Hector's House is good for old stuff, I like good vibrations and Dougie Knights is on Botanic Avenue
- virgin, hmv
- Dont use Virgin or Hmv they are killing the local record shops.
Vist Cathederal records and but Terri Hooley a pint and tell him you love the undertones cos he found them.
Oh vist hectors house and call him a cunt cos he fuckin well is......alright
- Cathederal Records in North Street Arcade come in and see the Godfather of Belfast Punk Terri Hooley the one time owner of Good Vibes...in Howard St.
- virgins qhite good - if they dont have it u can usually get it in a matter of weeks.
- HMV in belfast city centre is pretty good it has loads of every thing
- backbeat loadsa ska/hiphop/reggae/dance everything you want
- 2nd hand shops sell some decent old stuff, found at the back of smithfield markets
- Energy Store sells good commerical dance tunes.
- the second hand one on Botanic Avenue - can't remember the name
- h.m.v
our price
hectors house
vergin
and stuff
- backbeat good vibrations energy 10smick
- Dr Roberts was good for vinyl but it's just closed. I think that was the last of the decent record shops in Belfast. 3 CDs for £20 at HMV and Virgin killed it.
- snafu used to be in central belfast and it was for all the hardcore lovers, cracker shop and is away now. you would go there on a friday to get your glo sticks and 'posse' coats so you would look powerful at exit 15.
- Hector's House, bottom of North Street - bit of everything
- Dr Roberts (Church Lane)
- Virgin Megastores good, also HMV (a bit expensive), and Our price, not forgetting Golden discs, and CD Heaven, as owned by Laurence John, ex-DJ at local radio station Citybeat. He resigned dramatically ,locking himself in the studio, and playing his resignation live!
