The things about celebrating Halloween in 'our other knowhere place' is that the people who used to come to the door were by far more ugly that the masks we wore. Who scared who?

The Victoria Park Hotel by veepee (Member 10069595) on 24-Oct-2007

The things people do by WiseOldDave (Member 10213768) on 21-Oct-2007
Iwas languishing in the Hope beer Garden Saturday afternoon, enjoying the company of fellow smokers and the lovely weather. The garden was full and the pub were empty. This rather shabby lady shuffled in, had a good sniff round the garden and buggered off. Then like a flash it dawned on us she was the Smoking Police. Are there no proper jobs in the world?

Chat by Dog Master (Member 10160482) on 21-Oct-2007
Logged into the knowhere chat room last night for the first time, it was a different experience. Thought it would all be kids but all seemed mature gossipers. Not for me though, too fast and disjointed, couldn't keep up. Have you tried it?
  • Re: Chat by Jujube (Member 10133548) on 22-Oct-2007
Yeah years ago...sigh! What was I looking for eh?

  • Re: Chat by Jujube (Member 10133548) on 22-Oct-2007
I told them they were shite and it was boring I think - not very good karma I suppose but it really was awful. The kind of flirting you'd hear in a chipshop, and that kind of thing always looks so much worse in misspelled textual form. They were even sadder than I was.

  • Re: Chat by Dog Master (Member 10160482) on 22-Oct-2007
I do not like it when you use language like that. Do as I say not what I do! (it is not appropriate, unless in polite company)Keep superlatives for close friends. Serious JJ! X

  • Re: Chat by Jujube (Member 10133548) on 23-Oct-2007
A swearword is not a superlative and I've met the queen, so fuck off. In other words thanks for making me see the error of my ways *learns loads about life*

  • Re: Chat by Jujube (Member 10133548) on 23-Oct-2007
"shite" is no longer strictly a derivative of "shit", or "not very good". The Scots have made "shite" into an entity of its own, and the use of the word among younger folks esp. in the North and since Irvine Welsh cannot be taken in the same way it might have been when you were a youngster DM. It is now a vastly descriptive term.

  • Re: Chat by WiseOldDave (Member 10213768) on 23-Oct-2007
Shoite, as in the Irish vernacular, seems much more expressive!

  • Re: Chat by WiseOldDave (Member 10213768) on 23-Oct-2007
Hells Bells!......what's the Orkney, Gaelic expression? We should know these things, the native tongue. Does Big Jock know??

  • Re: Chat by Dog Master (Member 10160482) on 23-Oct-2007
    Well that's told me.

  • Re: Chat by Dog Master (Member 10160482) on 23-Oct-2007
Jock is better staying in his box, I don't want two of them telling me off. (you know what it's like Dave when your getting on in years)I wonder, could "when you were a youngster" be construed as an ageist remark? Will the Age Police join forces with the Grammar Police and make further arrests?

  • Re: Chat by Jujube (Member 10133548) on 23-Oct-2007
As in "shite and onions" in James Joyce's Pomes Pennyeach par exemple. *raises eyebrows and flutters eyelashes sanctimoniously*
